99 Nights in the Forest Roblox
A dark forest, a campfire that must keep burning, and a giant deer hunting anyone who wanders too far from camp. That is 99 Nights in the Forest, a survival game by Grandma's Favourite Games, which in the Indonesian version of Roblox appears under the name 99 Malam di Hutan. Since its release on March 4, 2025, this game has been visited over 29.9 billion times and favorited by more than 9.8 million players.
The game is also well-loved by its players, with about a 90 percent like vote on the 99 Nights in the Forest page. This guide covers how to play from the first night, how to deal with The Deer, crafting, rescuing the lost kids, and even its classes and paid items.
How to Play 99 Nights in the Forest
The main goal is simple: survive until the day counter hits Day 99. Each night successfully passed adds a day, and certain things like beds and rescued kids make the counter go up faster. You can play solo, but the game is much easier if played with friends.
The basic cycle is always the same:
- Daytime, gather materials. Chop trees for wood, search buildings for food, scrap, and tools.
- Fuel the campfire. The campfire is your safe zone, so make sure there is enough fuel before dark.
- Crafting. Process wood and scrap at the crafting bench to make tools, storage, and defenses.
- Nighttime, survive. Return to camp, guard the fire, and face the enemies that come.
Why the Campfire is the Center of Everything
As long as the fire is burning, the campfire is a safe area from The Deer. You can also restore HP by sitting near it. Fuel that can be used includes wood logs, coal, and fuel canisters, including items like wooden chairs you find in buildings.
The campfire can also be upgraded, and each level unlocks a wider map area along with new buildings and resources. One common mistake: burning all the wood until there is none left for crafting. Save some wood, and keep a fuel reserve near the camp just in case the fire suddenly dies down.
The Deer and Other Nightly Threats
The Deer is the main enemy of this game. It only hunts at night, targets players who are far from camp, and moves faster than a normal sprint. No weapon can hurt it, so don't waste ammo fighting back.
The best weapon against The Deer is light. Shine your flashlight directly at it to make it freeze for a moment, then use that pause to run back to the campfire. The Old Flashlight provides a shorter effect compared to the Strong Flashlight.
Besides The Deer, there are several other threats you need to know:
- Cultist: raid the camp at night, and their numbers increase every night. Planting trees in a tight circle around the campfire helps hold them back.
- The Owl: starts appearing after the fifth night and attacks when you chop trees. It cannot be killed, but can be stopped briefly with a flashlight.
- The Ram: an enemy in the volcanic biome that charges after a warning icon appears. Run sideways and place a large object between you and it.
Crafting Bench and Must-Have Items
The crafting bench is where all progress happens, and every upgrade unlocks new recipes for navigation, storage, healing, and camp defense. The first item worth making is a map for 3 wood, because the forest quickly becomes confusing. After that, upgrade the bench and make a compass.
At tier 3, the bench unlocks a crock pot for cooking and a lightning rod needed during storms. Don't forget to make a bed, because beds speed up the day counter. For better tools, wait for the Pelt Trader who arrives for the first time on the second day. They trade Rabbit's Foot for items like a Good Axe, Good Sack, or Old Flashlight.
Rescuing the 4 Lost Kids
Besides surviving, there are 4 kids lost in the forest. Activate the poster on the Missing Kids Board near the campfire, then follow the red arrow that also appears on the compass. Each kid is guarded by an enemy carrying a colored key:
- Dino Kid: guarded by a wolf, needs a red key, in a small hill with an iron gate, campfire level 3.
- Kraken Kid: guarded by an Alpha Wolf, needs a blue key, campfire level 4.
- Squid Kid: guarded by a bear, needs a yellow key, campfire level 5.
- Koala Kid: guarded by an Alpha Bear in the deepest cave, needs a black key, campfire level 5.
Defeat the guard, take the key, open the gate, and bring the kid back to camp. Each rescued kid increases the day multiplier, making the Day 99 target feel closer.
Classes and Diamonds
Classes provide special perks, for example, Scavenger (25 Diamonds) which increases sack space, Medic which speeds up revives, or Nightcrawler which is strong in the dark. Classes are bought using Diamonds in the lobby shop, with random stock that changes every 24 hours and one free reroll per day.
You can collect Diamonds from codes and achievement badges. For beginners, don't immediately spend Diamonds on expensive classes before understanding the basics of the game. A list of active codes is in the article code 99 Nights in the Forest, and a general guide on entering them is in how to redeem code Roblox.
99 Nights in the Forest Tips for the First Night
- Fill the campfire first, then explore. A safe fire gives you a place to return to.
- Divide roles if playing with friends. One person guards the fire, others look for food or crafting materials.
- Save bandages and medkits. Bandages can revive fallen friends, and medkits are better saved for emergencies.
- Return before dark. The further you are from camp at night, the higher the chance The Deer will come for you.
- Always carry a flashlight. A flashlight beam can stop The Deer and The Owl for a moment.
